Day for Night is a permanent installation on the top of the 1,070 foot Salesforce Tower in San Francisco.
Commissioned by Boston Properties, Salesforce Tower, San Francisco
A permanent installation for the crown that rises 150 feet beyond the highest occupied floor of the 1,070 foot Salesforce Tower in San Francisco. The exterior of the top six floors are softly lit with 11,000 LEDs together, capable of displaying low resolution moving color imagery. The content for the light installation is ever changing. Multiple cameras are placed around San Francisco, each capturing a different element of the city. Images from these cameras are recorded each day and processed and played back that evening. Prerecorded imagery is also integrated in the nighttime sequencing as well. The work is viewable at night from 20 miles away, reaching the entire surrounding community. Designed by renowned Pelli, Clarke, Pelli Architects, the Salesforce Tower is the tallest office building west of Chicago and was completed in May 2018.
